Make sure whatever you get that you wash it until the water is clean that you are washing it with! Otherwise you have a cloudy situation.

Depending on where you are located I have several buckets of various colors I don't plan on using you could have for cheap.

If you do get gravel from a hardware store be sure it is made from an innate stone. Otherwise it will mess up your PH and you will have lots of problems.

If you are thinking sand get silica pool filter sand from Home depot or lowes. Its $5 for a 50lb bag and one bag should be enough. Just be sure to rinse it very very well. To be sure its silica sand look for the cancer warning on the bag.

There are pros and cons to both sand and gravel. They both need to be rinsed very well before use.

After searching through Kory's pond today, I'm looking for pool filter sand again at Lowes. Hopefully they will have it today.

*Home depot off of HW 360 only carries the pool filter sand imitation. Which is $25 and the dude there says it works ALOT better. I said it was for a fish tank and he said why would you put sand in a fish tank?
