WTF is this?

This vine?line?xlrg leaf grew 18in within 3 days. Can anyone identify what it is? Or what does it do?

By the way, it is a hybrid Java Fern that i got from Wal-Mart.

Do your lights penetrate good to the bottom? If not, it's going after better light.

We figured out in the chat box that its an unknown species of plant and that is a flower sprouting. I will post pictures whenever it blooms.

is that aponogeton undulatus?

If you got it al wal-mart who know what it may truly be. Take some better pictures of the plant and post them.

The plant looks like some type of sword. My guess is Echinodorus martii. Yes it is most likely a strem for a flower. It could be a aponogeton undulatus for sure.


Look up Echinodorus martii and aponogeton undulatus
let us know if you think that looks like it. Lots of plants will grow flowers off of long stems like that.

That's a pretty sad looking plant but then again you found it at walmart. You must be doing some good to get it to flower thoe. Keep it up and the plant should fill in well. How many watts is you light? Do you know the wpg? Are you adding ferts? The reason the flower stem is so long is because it need to reach the surface. I would cut it down because that stem is using up most of the plants energy to grow it. If you want it to fill out a bit cut that down and cut off broken and dead leaf to help new growth.

Thanks for the help guys. It tookk a few days of nothing but the flower started to blooom. I'll Post pictures later tonight.
