40 gallon breeder

First topic message reminder :

I just got home with my 40 gallon breeder...Its gonna be an african cichlid tank unless I am told that it is not big enough. Any thoughts, ideas?

I just realized after looking online at the Aquaclears that I have 2...one is missing a motor and the other motor doesnt appear to work... Haven't used them in years...didn't even know what I had.

those are some good filters. you can get replacement motors and stuff from Ken's

I'm checking that. I may fix the smallest one because it is mostly in tact...the biggest is only the casing and fixing it may be the same as buying a new one..

It looks like one is a 70 and one is a 20. These things are old as dirt as they even look brownish, and neither have the top covers and Ken doesnt sell them either... I think I am going to fix them both and use both of them on my African aquarium.

Both on your 40b would work good.

That will be my plan then!!

I ordered the parts to get my aquaclear pumps running. Hopefully I will have them running in a few days. Ordered the parts from kens...

I have the Aquaclear 70 running in the aquarium... it made the tank dirtier as it is stronger and stirred up the sand. I have been moving it around the aquarium to clean things up. The water is cloudy but I can see to the back of the aquarium. The 20 would not fit due to the lip of the aquarium being too big so I put it with my last goldfish in my 29 gallon to help him out... Poor guy has struggled since the other goldfish died.

Put some stones in there today.

Looking at lighting for my 40 gallon breeder African setup... I have bought the 2 light setups for my 55 and one of my 29 gallon tanks. They have some plants so obviously that's why I got them. With this aquarium there will be no plants, am I fine with just a one bulb set up or should I get a 2 bulb? I am looking at the Deep Blue Pro t-5 series 136...and the 236 is the 2 bulb set up...

Never tried LED... that does sound like a good price. How long you had yours for?

I have it on my watch list...waiting for some financial aid money to come through.

i have had mine for about 8 months now. ill post pics of mine tomorrow, i need to clean it first
