| I rescued a GBR from a petstore who really had no idea what it was. It was mixed in the shipment and in a very dirty tank. It's colors have been dull the last 2 days but I woke up this morning and WOW. Complete change! Now I can tell it's a girl (: You really have no clue how nice they look until you have one yourself. I would actually recommend this fish to anyone wanting to start a freshwater community tank. By far one of my favorite fish! | |

| I've kept them before. They are a beautiful fish. They almost NEED to have a low pH and you have to keep the water chemistry from swinging even the slightest bit or else you will have a dead GBR on your hands. They are very fragile. Once they are set in a tank, the best thing you can do is small water changes and make sure they are well fed. They will do the rest of the pleasing. They are very colorful and playful cichlids and all kinds of fun to watch. (If you intend on breeding, make sure to pull the eggs once they are laid. The parents like to eat the eggs... a lot.)
Enjoy! | |
