Well, my old set up was a little too cluttered and did not leave enough swimming room... I liked the set up, but was ready for a change... I also found a sweet new piece of driftwood that I wanted to make the focus of the tank...
So I went from this:

I like how it turned out.... love the open space and simplicity of it... also all natural, real wood, rocks, plants..

Yep... My parents have a place on a large lake.. Tons of nice pieces... Very dry and clean for the most part...have to find pieces off the ground or on rocks... No rotting.. I am going to get a few more next time I visit...

I have an amazing branchy piece too that I decided not to use... Either gonna keep or give away...

That looks really neat. Do the fish like it or do they get startled at the open areas now that hiding places are exposed? I want that drift wood!! ty in advance for your generous donation

Fish seem to like it a lot... There is a 5 inch green terror small firemouth school of lemon tetras and a few danios...and a catfish

The GT really likes the open space and the roots and limbs to swim through.. The tetras used to stay in one little area and now actually show their school a lot better moving it all over the tank...

The danios are just as crazy and active as ever..

The catfish is the only unhappy one... I had to add another rock to make a cave for him.. Hopefully he will get in and like it... Now he is hiding at the top of tank around spray bar... Comes down when light goes out...

I love the simple look - it is something I always try to do but never am able to! Very clean. Great job! yes
