| Should I turn my freshwater 55 gallon into a saltwater tank?
I like the fish I have but I can only really have one big tank, and lately I've been getting into saltwater and it just seems really cool to me and a small 10 gallon tank would be harder to maintain than the 55 and I know I'd want to expand on it later... I've pretty much done all I can do with cichlids in the past and I think I'm ready to step up...
anyone think I should make the switch?

| Its not that hard to switch as long as you have everything you need to start the salt tank. I felt the same way with the cichlids i had so i jumped ito the salty world for a while. | |

| If you want to I think you should. I would get another tank and keep a FW so you don't have to choose between the 2. YOu can have both! | |

| You are right, you can do a shoddy sw tank, that you dont want to show anyone for that price. But if you are talking about a real sw tank, no way in hell. My bulb cost more than 50 bux. How many sw tanks you have right now? | |

| I read your previous post, but I was making sure. Its easy to say, oh it wont cost this much until you set the tank up. I did agree with you. You can have a tank for 50 bucks. It will be an empty, ugly tank. You have all that stuff which is about your 50 limit. So I take it no live stock, no inverts, no corals, no food? | |

Have fun with saltwater...alot of people have them just do not go to petco for help please...You can just give me $300 and save yourself the trip lol He's right. The lowest I've seen lr on co was $3/lbs and that was a few years ago. Now its $4 to $7 per lbs on cl. If you do score on cl you lucked out bigtime. I am always on cl and the few steals I found were gone within an hour of posting It.

| you must not know how much livestock costs. And, btw, you need a Clean up Crew that even for a nano tank, will run you more than 30 bux. But, you will find out when you buy your house and set a tank up. | |

| I know alot about my SW stuff. I also know that 50.00 is not going to cut it unless you get an entire set up for that price, its not happening. Like I said b4, you cant even do a fw tank at that price unless its some miraculous hook-up. Getting stuff off CL is cool and dandy, but that shouldnt be your main source of supplies. That's how you introduce all kinds of stuff into your tank that will have you scratching your head and pouring chemicals into it; not to mention if the parts and stuff even work properly. | |
