Favorite Fish: : Tons - freshwater, no cichlids or salt yet. I have these tanks: 30 gal - tetras (neon, bloodfin, diamond, one Bosemani rainbow female
20 gal high - 6 choprae danio, cycling, mostly done
10 gal quarantine - 1 turquoise, 1 macie and 2 dwarf Rainbows, 3 black kuhli loarches quarantine from a tank that had gotten sick; will go into my community tetra tank and the 20 high when all is confirmed to be ok.
Have set up my 20 gal long for an oranda goldfish; she'd be in there now if the store hadn't dropped her and now we don't know if she'll make it....look to put two orandas in my 40 breeder when I get it set up!
Also looking at getting a 27 gal cube and stand on sale and Petsmart but don't know where I'd put it!

My oranda goldfish, Penelope, has been acting differently for about 5 days now. She has begun to interrupt her usual constant activity with periods of holding still either at the bottom or top of one end or the other of her 20 gal long tank with her face an inch or less from the glass.

After a few minutes, she rushes out and begins sorting through the gravel for food, swimming from one end to the other of the tank, zooming through her bubble wall over and over.

Then after a longer time, she goes back to holding still and facing the end of the tank.

Then back to swimming, etc. There she goes through the bubbles again!

She doesn't have any apparent physical problems. I cleaned her tank a couple of days ago and fed her peas. I gave her peas again tonight. She was producing a huge poop a bit ago.

Any thoughts?

I think your last comment may be her problem. Sounds like she may be bound up. Keep feeding the peas with no other food for about 4-5 days.

Yes, I'll do that. I gave her regular food this morning, so I'll stop that entirely.

What about spirulina? I found some Omega One veggie flakes with the first ingredient of (shoot, can't find the word - a green leaf sort of thing) and second ingredient spirulina.
