Ok so I have three mated pair. All three pair have spawned 3 or 4 times each. Now all of a sudden they have all started fighting with each other ( there mates). What is going on here? it's gotten to the point I have had to separate them. Now I won't have any more mated pairs.

dithers, you need dithers. kinda like how i use a punk male for the couple to beat down on. from my experience with my kribensis, when i dont use a punk, then they tend have more violent fits of domestic violence. i guess spawning isnt enough, they gotta let out that energy that they would use in the wild defending territory and their babies. better to sacrifice a punk dither rather than breaking up an established couple. in my opinion it builds a stronger bond for the pair.

from my experience this is what works for me. from this technique of mine; the resulting bond my kribs make is so strong that when one dies the other will soon die 1-2 weeks after its mate from depression.

i havent observed this behavior in mated pairs that i havent used this punk dither technique with. often times an individual will kill its mate and be fine and will mate with another individual if given the opportunity..

Thanks Kass. I think I'll put a plastic canvas divider in the tank with the extra male on the other side so the mated male can see him. That may do the trick.
