LED was talked about pretty intensely in an earlier post.

Many of the same things apply towards planted tanks as they do in coral tanks. You might not be so worried about the heat over a fresh water tank but the idea of saving energy and life time running costs still applies.

I don't see any reason LED lighting would not work on a planted tank. If it works for coral it would surely grow plants. Just have to adjust what spectrum you use and likely have to readjust your lighting schedule.
