Hey all, i have a question... People know me as the fish guy in my parts so I get a lot of random people hitting me up on facebook as a friend of a friend who heard about me. I had a guy hit me up yesterday about a "brackish" snowflake eel. Saying his take is only freshwater and he didn't realize it needed salt. so he wants to give it to me... I never heard of a freshwater moray eel... my thoughts.. can he go straight into salt water and thrive (only tanks i have) or does it have to be a "brackish" mix. Also once i put it in saltwater wont that take the brackish part out of his name. I know as juvies they are fresh then move to salt as they mature.. anyways i don't know.. i have been looking online and just wanted to hear it from you guys and girls..

Can i put a brackish snowflake eel in a straight fowlr SW tank.. or is that TOO salty for it?

If you put him in a bucket with the water that he's in and slowly drip water from the tank you want him in.

You'll need

1.) standard airline tubing
2.) clothes pin
3.) transfer container (I'd go with a 5g bucket on a mooray depending on the size)

start a siphon from the main tank to the transfer container using the airline tubing and the old suck start method.

Either clip the tubing with the clothes pin or tie a loose knot in the airline tubing.

Adjust clip and/or knot to get the desired drip rate.

Careful with eels. Make sure you have a GOOD lid. Shriveled up eel on the floor the next morning, or dropped off on your bed by the cat is just FREAKY.

That's what's I did with my flounder and he's loving his new home. Let us know how it does.

i think he meant a lid on the bucket.
