First topic message reminder :

So I'm on the last days of the 29. I've been quiet a good bit lately, because I've been holding my breath and crossing my fingers and all that other good stuff finishing this build and waiting out a cycle. Initially I bought this setup for the stand and the sump. The original plan was to snake my way into buying a DSA 70pro to build out on. So what started as a "I'll take the stand and sump for 100" turned into, just give me the whole thing and I'll part out and piece off on my own.

Well, that didn't last long obviously and 72 hours later the system was setup. That was in the late part of April. Since then I've watched over both my 29 and this 58 through its cycle. With the acquisition of a skimmer last week, all the pieces are finally in place. Slowly I'm monitoring nitrate removal from the system, and moving things in. I estimate another week until the contents of the 58 that are staying are set, and the 29 is ready to find a new home.

So then, onto my first pics.

https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10150281324339774.352274.771159773

basically a collection of pics from my camera phone. I usually upload when taken. Feel free to gander... it's SLOWWWWLY locking in as the refugium matures. Nitrates running between 5-10ppm currently, and holding. I have one more big water change to go to knock em down < 5ppm and then it should just really start taking off moreso than it is now. A change of bulbs would do wonders too. Starting to see GHA (yay) and cyano (boo), but the overall health of the system is doing well, and I'm starting to see colors on corals I've never seen before...

Side note here... I watched my 29 crash. I just sat back, lit up a cig, and watched the whole thing just go straight to hell over the last month.

System parameters for the 29 as of last night...

ammonia: HIGH
Nitrate : HIGH

SG... (wait for it... wait for it)

1.050

light cycle is currently at 2 hours on per day... blues only, and only to watch it tank.

I quit topping it off. the ATO on the 58 seals the deal..

I'll never run another system that I have to manually top off. EVER

COMPLETELY wiped out an Asterina infestation. The only thing left swimming in that tank last check was amphipods.

Yeah I'm bragging but I'm stupid excited. Everything zeroed out sometime in the last week, and now I'm dropping alkalinity and trying to dial in dosing to keep it where it needs to be. It's about to be real happy off in the 58. 6 and a half months after "cycling" I finally have a new reef.

Sounds familiar... Hubs likes power tools, so as long as he gets a new blade for his circular saw, or a chain for his chain saw, or a new drill bit or something of that nature, he's generally happy. ;)

And being married 28 years in this day and age is fantastic! Kudos to you two!!
