| So I'm on the last days of the 29. I've been quiet a good bit lately, because I've been holding my breath and crossing my fingers and all that other good stuff finishing this build and waiting out a cycle. Initially I bought this setup for the stand and the sump. The original plan was to snake my way into buying a DSA 70pro to build out on. So what started as a "I'll take the stand and sump for 100" turned into, just give me the whole thing and I'll part out and piece off on my own. Well, that didn't last long obviously and 72 hours later the system was setup. That was in the late part of April. Since then I've watched over both my 29 and this 58 through its cycle. With the acquisition of a skimmer last week, all the pieces are finally in place. Slowly I'm monitoring nitrate removal from the system, and moving things in. I estimate another week until the contents of the 58 that are staying are set, and the 29 is ready to find a new home. So then, onto my first pics. | |

I'm working on it. Sorry it's a little boring still. Another month maybe and I'll be all moved in. Let the system adjust slow that's the plan. I'll go grab some equipment photos for ya if ya want tho. The canopy on this thing is embarrassingly ugly. I really really hate the 10k halides. I'm already plotting 14k purchases and swapping to ati blue+ for supplementation. | |

| Boy are you moody you just said you loved the 10k's? I went from 10k to 14k then 20k and I didn't see growth on any of them the way I see it now since I swapped back to 10k but the down fall is the 10k are very yellow so to offset that I use 4 T5's ATI blue plus's and ATI true actinics and two blue LED strips other wise I would be back using the 20k or 14k's. right now I have a one track mind and that is to get the SPS colonies Bigger and the 10k and near perfect params are doing it, once they are grown in the way I want then I will switch back to 14k awhile then ultimately 20k for show. the LED really offset the yellow. I have one 48 inch strip not being used I can sell:) I wish you weren't so far I would bring it by and let you see just how much a difference these make:) you have the makings of a fantastic reef! | |

| No no... I said the coral love the light. It's too yellow for my taste.
It's funny though I was just thinking of doubling out my t5s in the hood (as I'm planning the hood rebuild atm) and using 2 39w atiblue plus, an ati pure actinic, and was debating between another pure actinic or a purle plus for the other bulb.
Currently I think there's an ati blue + and a geismann actinic white or something along those lines. When the halides are on it all gets washed. Today I acquired a few new things and put those in the 58. Nitrates are sitting at 20ppm, but I just turned the skimmer on a week ago. It's finally breaking in, and I'm monitoring, but if it holds at 20ppm by friday it'll be a drastic water change to lower the trates to a level the skimmer can keep up.
I was also thinking of supplementing with cheap GU10 LED modules mounted on some cheap track system. Alas, the plans continue.

LOL I got ya:) sometimes its hard to find a happy medium between the corals lovin it and it appealing to the the keeper. I did use the Korallen-Zucht Fiji purples and and still ended up going back to the ATI blue plus's and ATI true actinics. while finding your happy spot with the bulbs don't forget to acclimate the corals to the new lights. if you do get some LED's with good par try to go all blue I think you will love that look my LED's blow the T5's away you can hardley tell there on so most of the color off setting these 10k's are coming from the LED's... keep up the great work and congrats on more LR!

| Aight, finally did it! Without further ado... I give you my latest additions... Master P and C-murder and just C-Murder keepin a sharp eye out for the popo I realize the pics are dark, but they picked the shady side of the reef, and I probably should try for a better pic with the halides on, or maybe some photoshop. Meh. | |

| heh no flash, just hard to adjust out the white balance between the sand and the goby. The shrimp is that off-colored stripe thing next to the rock.. Lemme see if I can adjust it out a little better with photoshop. I'll get a better pic tonight. The goby is obviously white with spots. So coloration works. Ok, I'm just ridiculously lazy and incredibly busy SO... shrimp is circled in red, goby in blue
