I'm going to be setting up my 75 for Discus. I would like a pair of breeding discus or ones that are pretty close to that. I'm not made of money so I would like a reasonable price.LOL if there is such a thing for Discus. If anyone has any please PM me. Thanks.

U know even the breeders here sell them for 300 or more. Aqua bid has some a little cheaper but u have to do the shipping part which can be stressful.

To breed them you have to be perfect on water condition. If you want cheap discus, I know a guy in Arlington that breeds them in his home and sells them on craigs list. That is where I bought mine. They rand from 1 inch to 3 inches, the more you buy the better deal he gives. I got there late onetime and all the big ones were gone already,I bought 4 or 5 that day and he through in 3 more small ones for free. He sells them for $10 each.

could see if redneck jon has any breeders... or john or jim yim11 is his screen name... you got to keep up with water changes to breed discus and a good mult. diet for them... might try aquatic wonderland in arlington... or check on simplydiscus.. and see if any one in the dfw area has any...

I would find a reputable source and buy a group of 6-10 juvies and grow them out i'm sure you will get a few pairs out of them. Water doesn't have to be perfect, but clean and stable. I have bought several discus that I turned out to be disappointed with after i learned what a good discus looked like. The two best suppliers i have found are Kenny Cheung and Mike Beals. I found them from simplydiscus.com. Check them out, you will pay for shipping but you will get quality fish which is the most important thing when breeding. Kenny -- [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]Mike -- [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]Both of them will take the time to talk to you and answer any questions (even after you have bought the fish). Good customer service is worth a lot and when you are spending a good amount of money on fish it just feels good. Hope this helps feel free to let me know if you have any questions.

that is a good way to start. buy at least 6 and grow them out. If you cant see the parents at least get some pictures. Pay close attention to the structure. Nice and round. try to find out what generation they are. be careful of to much inbreeding. I would buy a few more of the same strain from another seller and mix them together. |
