PostSubject: Englishman in East Texas   Englishman in East Texas Icon_minitime4/27/2011, 2:31 am

Hi
I've kept fish on and off for ... oh hell, is it really 40 years. Started with a cast off simple lamp tank and a few cast off guppies, then got a 24" community tank by my bed with a simple box bubble filter (dam I feel guilty now about the water quality)... jump a few decades, I run 2 x 55G cichlid tanks with about 60lbs of holey rock in each tank, canisters plus HOB's, we have a 25G others tank and a 10G tank for "her" betta and snail.
My Badboys are about 3 years old (finally lost one about a month ago) and I love their attitude, just moved them finally to a 55G tank, so it's a work in progress. My "Happy" tank is my newest, Haps & peacocks, all juevenille or how ever spelled. I enjoy the watching them develop, as I did with my Badboys, all bought when about 1" long.
My credo is " there is never to much filtration, change water every week and just sit down and watch your tank - there are no repeats and never a commercial break!"

When I find out how to post pics, if it's not to tech, I'll do so.

OK, not very good pics, but shows the tanks in progress.

!st is my "Happy" tank All jueveniles, so lacking colour.
1 Copadichromis Verginalis (male hopefully, will look for a couple of females as I like these), Jacob Pt Butterfly Peacocks 1M 2F, German Red 1M, 2F, 3 Pchenga (sex to be determined), couple of smaller Mbuna, 1 Kenyi and 1 Red Top Ice Blue, both when a little larger will go into my Bad Boy tank of M'buna's. Also a Sailfin Cat, and 2 Clown Loaches (which I know would prefer more moderate pH, but I've seen so many in African tanks that look healthy, and I really like them)

Badboy tank

Mixture of possible pure and some definite hybrid boys. These are mostly the ones I stared with 3 years ago. I'll post a pic of the tank once I have finished the black background, and placed a couple of Hobby Lobby plants in there ( I like the greenery, and it provides a further hidey hole when aggression is high...oh and I like the price of their plants compared to LFS prices, 1/4 of the price), I've since, added a Eheim 2217 in addition to a weak cascade canister so the water is even clearer now.
Tank has, and these ID's are taken under somewhat sceptical naming, 3 Acei, 1 Red Zebra, 1 Hybrid Yellow Lab/Red Zebra (runt, but different - don't worry, no breeding in this tank) 3 Cobue (Certain) 2 Johannes, 1 Rubberlip Plec.
Other than maybe a Lab, what would anyone suggest? Or is the tank at limit for a 55G with this filtration.
Big Blue Acei is the boss, so alas no more blue fish.
