| So being from Wichita Falls, there is only 1 LFS and its not the best. Was wondering what some good LFS in the Dallas/Ft Worth area are. I frequent it, so definatly always looking. Perferably Ft. Worth Area more so. Thanks! | |

| In my personal opinion in the whole DFW area....There is not a store worth going to. All over priced and the quality is just not that great.
Get your fish from a local breeder or get them shipped in from DRAF or another one of our sponsors.
QUALITY SHOULD BE the most important thing when buying fish.

QUALITY SHOULD BE the most important thing when buying fish. X2 if you are talking about FW fish. The quality and the price you pay will upset you. There are always members selling top quality fish at a reasonable price. If you need an abundance of supplies, you can always order from Kens. Dont know how many tanks you have, but when you have more than 3+, ordering is the cheapest route. Hope this helps.....

| /\------------- yep yep, some times you just have to make that emergentcy stop in to petsmart for prime when it's 8:45 and you just did a water change and thought you had prime and you don't..... also on supplies I find shipping will make it more on some of the stuff...
hobbist is what keeps aquariums a live.. plants, dfwapc $20.00 a year but all the knowledge and plants I've got it feels like I only had to pay 2 pennies...
what kory says is true lots of stores or over priced.... for me it comes down to what I need..

| For supplies, ordering is the way to go. I found you can get things in "bulk size" compared to what is in most lfs. That helps allot when you have multiple tanks going. I prefer to stay away from lfs for the fish, i found buying from a person rather then a lfs, the fish are in better health and will do better in your tank then the lfs fish do. A lot less of a chance on getting a disease in the tank that way too. | |

| Agreed with all of them above.
Trust me man... I use to live in Wichita and went to MSU so I know how u feel about not many LFS.
But Local Breeders THAT KNOWS WHAT THEIR DOING are the best options in this business and hobby.
Go down to Mansfield and see Kory, he'd hook u up with some good stuff!

| Thanks all, problem is its extremely hard for me to get things shipped to me. Has to go through differant scan procedures plus, im not always available for shipping, and theres good chance I'll get something and not know about it for a couple of days. So I kinda have to bite the bullet and hit up LFS, so was wondering which was the best. Found one in Haltom city that Im not to impressed with, but they have good selection. Just finished up MSU..thank God, lol | |

| If you are willing to drive to Haltom City, there are breeders not too far from there. I know Bfinley is in that neighborhood and Kory is right down the highway. I've been to all the LFS in fort worth, and lets just say, I stopped buying fw fish from them once I joined USAfishbox. | |

| So...I am new to the Fishbox. However, I live here in Dallas. I see you all mention that it is best to purchase from local breeders - and I see a few names (Kory, bfinley, etc.).
Does anyone have contact info for them? Or maybe a list of what they breed?
Thanks! | |

QUALITY SHOULD BE the most important thing when buying fish. Can't say that I disagree with you....but why should (is that?) I can't find a reasonably priced lFS with healthy fish and supplies in DFW! DFW is huge albeit landlocked a major city with a major multi-hub airport! Frankly, frustrated with paying shipping costs from 2nd tier cities.....

| Haven't been to Aquarium Boutique but like DNA & Fish Gallery. Both, not the cheapest in the world!! :o I was a t Fish Gallery this week and saw a GBR Ram for 29.99. I have several and have never paid more than $13!! Guess they are learning from DNA. When there are so few option and little competition exploit the opportunity. oh Well! Mail order it is....
Thanks! | |

| they where 29.99 because they where breeding pairs of blue rams.. if you want cheap gbr's pet smart 4.99 but remember sometimes you get what you pay for...
the reason I was given about DNA being so high priced, is most of the younger teens/ young adults that work in the back selling fish work on commissions... dna raises prices so they can afford to take care of the dead fish losses etc...
john real name will also go buy his nickname, or it might be his middle name yuki will be start with you. exp. if you have a 29g and want a fish that needs at least a 75g or bigger tank he will tell you say sorry can't sell you that fish. he is the owner and only has one other person working for him part time... so there is no jacking up the price to cover cost of a dead fish, or to pay so much to one employee well the other is getting a different pay...
