I received some frags of candy cane corals. what is the best way to attach them to a live rock? i've heard of using super glue but i want to do it the right way. do petco and petsmart carry these items? (i looked online and nothing comes up) or am i best off to go to my local fish store?
    what has worked for you?

i tried super glue gel. it worked great. just a little tricky keeping the dry areas dry and the coral head wet for 10 minutes until the gel sets.

i wonder if there is some fast dry stuff. I could see where keeping the coral wet and say rock if thats what you were attaching it to dry long enough.

10 minutes? Wow, completely unnecessary. Use super glue GEL! The best way to do this is to take the rock out of the tank, dry it off as best you can, load up what you're gluing with the gel, hold it to the rock for 30-45 seconds, put it back in the tank.

Oh I'll add if you can't take the rock out. Load up what you're gluing, dip in fresh ro next to the tank quickly this will harden the outer layer of the gel, now stick it to the rock so the gel comes out of the bubble, and just hold it there for 30-45 seconds. You want to use the gel as it stays on what you're gluing until it sets.

I don't take rock out simply because it would be impossible to do so with 300+pounds that would be rescaping every time I bought coral lol I don't think so. what I do is the sandwich method I take a quarter size ball of epoxy need it into a ball thoroughly mixing the epoxy then I make a dent in the center of the ball fill the dent with super glue gel then place the base of the coral into the gel flip the ball over and press it flat and put a little gel on that side to glue it to the rock then I press the ball with with the coral where I want it and hold it firm for 30 seconds and I'm done. I buy my epoxy from home depot at a fraction of the cost of LFS its called JB water weld the label will say for potable water. coral can easily withstand being out of water for several minutes it can even benefit the coral if you have filter sponge growing on it the air will kill the sponge but not the coral.
corals are alot tougher than you think when I fragged my toad it was the size of a basketball it was out of water for a good 20 min with no ill effects to the coral at all.
lol I sold 14 frags of that thing last july now its a basketball again:(
