ok i doubt you cichlid FREAKS know what a par38 is so this is a Q for the SW ppls!!

    how high over my 5.5 g should i place my par38 (it s a 12K 60 degree optices bulb)
i know i can Keep pretty much any corl i want under this thing but im still unsure on how high i should place it! i dont want to bleach burn or whatgever anything!

i also want to know if a Knano (240gph) would be too much flow for the tank!
for filteration i through on a CheapO 20g HOB filter on it!
prolly throw some Cheato or LR rubble in their!
i also plan on using a stealth 50w heater in their!

1st are you talking about a 38 par 21w cree lamp? how deep is your 5.5? they are usually used to spotlight SPS corals with a high light demand but I don't see any reason you can't use it on a nano. I would keep it 7-8 inches ubove your tank then slowly over a couple of weeks move your corals up if moving the corals is not an option I would start with the light
12 inches above and slowly over a couple weeks move the light down. what corals are you keeping?
a Koralia nano should be fine again it depends on what you are keeping.

    ^ thanks!
    Cindy!
i think its only bout 10" deep or so its a standard 5.5g from petco
and yes it the 21watt cree:)

i plan on keeping anything i can get my hands on so mixed reef!
so just to start of you think i would be ok 10" off the surface of the tank?
also the tank is not wet yet it wont be till prolly this weekend or monday!
prolly have it running for bout a week or two then throw a cuc in their and see how it goes:)

also what kind of stocklist can i keep in here! im thinkin bout haveing 3 sexy shrimp in their for movement lol plus they look awsome!
that or maybe a goby of some sort:)
feel free to throw idears at me:) i will get picks and a thread goin pretty soon:)

you are gonna want this tank up and running longer than a couple of weeks before adding anything it takes longer than that to cycle in go to "my tank progress" thread I told him everything you need to know to get your tank going without losing your stock. too many shortcuts and you might as well flush your money down the toilet. I have never kept sexy shrimp but I do know if they are not well fed they will nibble on corals. 5 gallons is tiny like a micro nano:) so I am thinking a small watchman goby or something along those lines it will be your only fish. when you start adding corals just acclimate them to your light like we talked about earlier the corals that demand more light on top then work your way down 10 inches ubove to start should be fine. remember its all about water quality! if you use bad water to start you will fail. RO/DI is the best. as far as the cree's I love them I have 36 3 watts on the 180 and they are a great supplement to the HID' and T5's.
Good luck and keep us posted.. when in doubt research!

    YEP I KNOW:)
imma let the tank cycle for a good while or maybe get some water and rock from a buddies tank and throw it in hopefully get things goin a lil faster. do you think a goby shrimp combo would be ok in this tank?
iv read a cpl threads on nanoreef some dude has a yellow watchman goby and a pistol shrimp that paired up! they burrow all over his tank and are frikin koo to watch lol hes a more experienced person in the SW world though! ive seen many different gobies and shrimps pair up but was wondering if i can have a pair in my tank? since theyre really small?
that would be awsome! any thoughts?
and thanks your help and advice is great:) thank you
