PostSubject: Hi....a little late!   Hi....a little late! Icon_minitime12/4/2010, 11:16 pm

Just wanted to introduce myself.
I live in North Florida and have had tanks since I was about 10.
I am now setting up a 75 I just got a good deal on and trying to decide what to put in it. This will be a good place to give me ideas!
I am a pet groomer and have a variety of dogs, cats and poultry.

Welcome!

Are you keeping fish now besides the 75 you're working on?

What kind of fish have you kept in the past?

welcome

Is there any fish you do not like? with me that list is shorter to start with. lol! Then is there a certain area that most of your favorites come from like South America or Africa or even a north american sunfish tank can be fun. Think about how you want the tank to look Planted, deco, lighting and get fish that will suit the environment you want.

I am from North Florida, near Tallahassee.
Now how would I go about matching fish to my water type?? What things do I need to measure? Then when I know this info, how to I match to the right fish?

Go ahead and fill a bucket and add the appropriate amount of water conditioner for it and then test your PH GH and KH if possible, then look for fish that are closest to what you've got or post and we can give you some suggestions Hi....a little late! 393849
If you have low PH and low GH you would want to go in the angel/discus and other acidic soft water fish. If your PH and GH are high you would want to head in the African cichlid direction.
Its so much easier to pick fish that are close to the water you have than constantly messing with your water parameters trying to keep your fish happy Hi....a little late! 393849

I love kribensis... which is what I have in my 29.
But aren't rams also a type of cichlid?? I like them also.
