| I just got a 90g tank and stand for $100 at a yard sale and was wondering if it was a good size for discus and if so how many? |

| Its still in the bed of my truck, its 1/2" glass so there is no way in heck that I'm even gonna try to move it by myself Ya the guy had it marked at $150 and he let it go for $100, He should be joining us soon along with some of his other salty buddy's, I got to look at his reef tank and it looks pretty good for a new tank! |

| ok tank is 24" x 18" x 48" Heres that tank still in my truck awaiting my BF to help me get it out See the nice sticker on my bumper? Here is the stand, Its a little beat up but its real wood so still quite serviceable! So will discus fit? If so how many? I plan on doing some corys or something in with them as well so it would be a light stock on the discus and yes the tank will be fully planted |

| they say 1 discus for every 10 gal this is not including any other fish. if youwant others then less discus. 6 makes up a good group with room for some little guys.
DIscus are addictive. you get ones you like but are always lookig for more. They are fun fish.

| I use to own discus and for a tank that size I would go with 12 to 15 discus, you definitely dont need 10 gals per fish, there slow moving fish that prefer a tall tank over a long tank. A tank you size I would go with 12 to 15 with some pleco's, cory's and a nice group of cardinals. I had 7 adults in a 55 long for over a year with the same dither fish I mentioned, the cleanup crew did a great job of keeping the tank clean and doing water changes twice a week. | |

| I plan on getting them up to full size and probably attempt to breed them. So 5-6 sounds good?
What PH KH and temp am I going to need? |

| PH 7.4 the highest KH high enough to keep it stable, GH 3 degrees for breeding tanks, 5 degrees for community tanks. For breeding tanks you want 6.4 to 6.8 ph. For fry tanks you want to do daily water changes, I know a breeder that does 90% water changes on fry up to 2". Growout and adult tanks he does 50% WC 3x a week. Reason for so many water changes is because he feeds them alot and he is able to sell the juveniles in 2 months that are 2 to 2.5", temp keep around 84 to 86. | |

IMO - 12 to 15 is way to many in a 90G. I think The poster said they plan to go with 6 to 7. That's a MUCH BETTER plan if you were to ask me!

| Too few can be a problem. you dont want to have one weak guy get picked out and beat to death. Just watch them close. IMO 6 is a good number | |
