This has to be one of the hardiest plants I have ever owned. It is not picky about substrate and has no need of fertilizers. It does well in medium light levels. The round lily type leaves will reach the surface of most aquariums. This is a rhizome plant so you need to take care when planting not to cover the rhizome or the plant will not do well. If planted as seen in the above photo you will have great success with this plant. In aquariums with little current this plant can be left to drift upon the bottom. It will root itself at some point though.
