| This is the best time for a hospital tank. Copper based products are the best solution to cure ich. It's just a killer for coral and inverts. | |

| I understand what you are going threw been there have the shirt. It seems to me that Marine Ick is harder to get rid of than the fresh water type is. I will say one product I tried was Kick Ick. Said it was "reef safe" which I will agree that it did not harm anything in my tank.....including the ick At $35.00 a bottle from my LFS I had expected better results than that. I have also been told on another board that Skunk Cleaner Shrimp will help remove Ick and can help keep it in check. I have not bought one myself so I cant tell you how effective they maybe. | |

| Ich, is Ich.. I would stay away from chems... If you want to prevent ich, dont use a chemical to do so.. Keep your water clean.. Don't let yourself get lazy.. Do water changes! I keep a UV sterilizer on my tanks and do water changes every few days. I never get ich..
Ich does not only come out when water is bad.. but also when a fish or fish(s) are stressed.. Several things can cause this stress.. One of those things are lighting.. If you keep your lighting on too long it will stress the fish out as they can't rest with them on.. Another way of stressing them out is by moving things around in your tank disturbing your eco-system.
A complete list on how to keep your aquarium stable..
Water Changes (With R/O Water) Keep your lights on a timer. Try not to rearrange your tank. (unless you really need to) Mix Garlic mix into your food every now and then. Quarantine ALL of your fish before putting them into your show tank.
If you do these things, And i mean truly do these things.. you should never have an ich problem. | |
