| kory what you need to do is add 1 or 2 hardy fish and use seachem stability. let the tank cycle with teh 2 fish while using the stability and the tank will cycle (wont do anything as it is right now). after 7 days with using the stability with your fishor 2 then your tank should have gone through its cycle and you should be ready fro your next fish (i would go with more live roc befor emore fish though). |

| You can use mollies to cycle tank. Their cheaper than saltwater fish. Stores won't tell you this. The cycle just takes time. The nitrate cycle is the worst part. Also algae will start to grow when cycle is complete. |

| you can speed up the process by using seachem stability. i have used it and my tank went through its cycle in 7 days and i used my ocelleris clowns to seed mine, fishman is right though you can use a freshwater molly to seed a saltwater tank also you just need to make sure you climatize the molly to the high salinity. |

| By looking at that lamp you have on there, I owuld say its just a regular ole flouresant light, like the kind for a freshwatser tank. Thats not going to help you cycle your tank or do anyhting. Since you need to cook the rock i would suggest getting a 50/50 cf light at the least. You might also want to consider some type of pump to have more water movemetn in your tank. To cure rock you need to keep the water moving and change it often. As far a light cycle on my tanks that I have rocks curring I use a regular time 12 on 12 off. If you can fin d someone with some live sand, even a cup full to add to you sand, or some live rock, that will help seed your tank faster. What are you usinf for a base? I couldnt tell what it was, sand, crushed coral? In igotatanks pic, he has a lot of rock, which is great to have. He also has to fans moving water. While curring make sure you watch your salinity and ph. The will rise and fall a lot. Dont forget a good heater and set it. Good start you got yourself there. The one big thing you need with salt is , PATIENCE!!! Welcome to the salt world. | |
