how much gunk should my protein skimmer be pulling out? i get about 1/3 of my cup full a day. wasnt sure if too much was bad or not.

i have 5 green chromis and a cpr back pack skimmer. i was told its rated for a 90 gallon tank, and i have a 55 gallon

check your ammonia and nitrate levels.
You shouldn't smell it unless it's open.
I dump my cup once a week into my wife
plants. You say it's 1/3 cup a day. Leave
it for 2 day, cause most of that 1/3 is just air
from the intake.

Post a pick before you dump it again.

it should be dark in color and when you open the container to dump it there will be a foul odor to the liquid in it. my skimmers pull dark green, dark brown, and sometimes near black gunk but i also have a remote collection container on my skimmer si i dont have to turn my skimmer off just to dump my collection cup LOL
