    Size - 6 inches
    pH - 7.5
    Temp. - 81 degrees Fahrenheit
Minimum Tank Size - 55 Gallons
    Origin - Thailand
Diet - Frozen and flake food including bloodworms, brine shrimp, and tropical flakes
    Care Level - Intermediate
Temperament - Mild to Moderately Aggressive

The Red-Fin or Rainbow Shark as some people call it are a great addition to a tropical semi-aggressive tank. They have a mild enough manner to be kept with some smaller species and also have an aggressive side that makes them okay to keep with most South American cichlids. They originate from Thailand and enjoy water on the basic side of the pH scale (7.4-7.6). They also enjoy warmer water temperatures around the 80 degree Fahrenheit mark. The Red-Fin Shark is also a picky eater, so beware of this when you purchase one and try a number of different foods until you find a combination that works well and consists of both frozen and flake food. These fish are fun to watch and fun to keep. Just remember that they are very territorial, especially towards their own kind and cannot be kept with another Red-Fin. They swim very much like real sharks and have awesome personalities. These fish are great looking and can add color and character to any tank you put them in!

One small addition. The albino of this species has limited vision and some light sensitivity as a youngster, so make sure you have lots of caves and hide-outs for them, especially when young.

Gr8 info! How do you breed? What fish are compatible with them? What type of substrate is suitable for them?

Breeding is tough because they are so incompatible with each other. You would have to use dividers much like betas and watch for certain behaviors. Once they hit maturity they want to kill any other Red-Fin in the tank. You want to put tropical semi-aggressive fish in with them. Harlequin Rasbora and Tetras are bad calls. My shark wiped out 6 of those bad boys in one day while I was at work. Not good. Substrate is not particular, but should be something rather smooth to prevent barbel erosion.

I wonder if they can hold their own against convicts. My convicts tore up my gourami and my gourami is MEAN! Gourami picks on 8" flowerhorn and the convict (not in spawning mood) tore half my fins off.

It will hang with most anything and it knows when it's been beat. They do very well with aggressive fish.
