Ok so I'm supposed to be the Betta expert right? Well I have a question. I have been trying to breed three different pair of Bettas in the past month. None have spawned. Just beat the cr@p out of each other. I'm thinking it may be the time of year. Does anyone else find that there fish ( any kind of fish) spawn better at a certain time of year?

My peacocks and snow whites would spawn like crazy in the winter right after water changes.

some of my Plecos are like this. They breed like mad some parts of the year, then just quit!

It's so frustrating. I'm going to wait a few months and see if that makes any difference. The other thing I wonder is if the water in different areas make a difference.

I find that if you want them to breed, they won't! It drives me nuts also!!!

On a side note, since I said my above comment about my plecos, I caught them foolin around in the cave spawning....

Nosing around other forums, I've heard rumors about changes in the barometric pressure, humidity, etc. (a good summer storm, for example) can spur them into spawning, as well as simulating the changes in a monsoon season in their tank with the water parameters. Just a thought.

Yes that always work for my Angelfish. I do a good water change and they spawn the next day. LOL

To me it doesn't matter what season it is, a fish wouldn't know if its summer or winter, what month or week it is. Most fish will breed right after the rain reason but that's wild fish only. I breed my fish using a 60/40(tap water/rain water), Work all the time for my betta. I'm a retirement betta breeder so i know my stuff.

Have you see a full Orange fullmoon before? ^^

Thanks A. Next time it rains I'll try to catch some. Although right now in Texas we're in the middle of a draught. I'm assuming you treat the water?
